Imposing Victorian stone-villa, built originally as a private house, reached by a flight of steps. Now a family-run free house, perched on the highest point of the Cotswolds with spectacular views over the Severn basin. On a clear day it is possible to see Tewkesbury Abbey, the Malvern Hills and as far as the Black Mountains in Wales. The pub has an open-plan layout and a dartboard. Other facilities include a terrace for outdoor drinking, bar skittles and two car parks. The garden has a number of impressive conifers. Good-value food includes Welsh sirloin steaks and large Viennese baps (evening food Thursday-Saturday). Closed Sunday evening.
