Occupying an unusual twin gable-ended building, this pub lies next to an old watermill by the River Tyne, hence its name. The long narrow bar with its welcoming fire in winter, is popular with locals who enjoy the real ales from across the UK.

The lounge is Mazzoli, a bistro serving Italian food. The secluded garden to the rear is popular in summer. The pub may close early on quiet winter evenings.
