A traditional village local, rebuilt in 1910, the Sun will become a destination real ale pub under the new licensee who took over in May 2025.
The pub was was bought from Brakspear in 2013 by a local businessman when it became a free house. Under the new licensee it serves four real ales on handpump, two from local breweries and two rotating ales from far and wide. There will also be one ale offered straight from the cask each week.
The opening hours shown are those planned from July 2025, and so may be more limited to start with. Phone the pub to check before you visit. There is no food offering at the present time, but again, from July, large fresh filled cobs will be available during the week and a roast at Sunday lunchtimes.
Has a log fire in the bar on cold winter days and benches at the front and on the rear patio for warmer summer days.

Previously, the pub hosted several events, such as classic car shows and chess player meetings. Morris dancers perform 2 - 4 times a year out front of the pub in summer months. The Stoke Row Rally is held every June in an adjacent field, owned by the pub owner. Check their Facebook page for the latest events.
Has wheelchair access via the side entrance, but no specific disabled toilets. A defibrillator is located o the left of the front porch entrance.
