This Pub is Permanently Closed
Very large three-bar establishment on the main road with a proper public bar. The pub name apparently derives from the days when the site was a clearing in the 'North Wood' where a goat herd lived and is marked 'Goat House' on an enclosure map of 1797. The landlord carries on the tradition by keeping a couple of goats in the large back garden to amuse the children. Despite its size this is a quiet pub apart from occasional live music (Jazz/Blues).
Planning application 97/01202/P requesting demolition was approved on 7 October 1997.
