This 15th cent. ex-Lacons inn retains two bars, a traditional lounge with an adjoining games room and a first floor function room. The guest beer is free of tie and varies from week to week. The pub has a full sports TV package & live music most weeks. No entry after 11.30pm Fri-Sat. Under new management from 01/03/19.
Historic Interest
Known just as the "Swan" at least as late as 1967; the actual date of the name change is not known. A report in the Ipswich Journal on 06 Sep 1879 states that: At the Halesworth Annual Licensing Day (03 Sep 1879), all renewed except Mrs Read, at the Swan where the police complained about the characters visiting this house & conduct. Mr Brooke, from the Bench advised Mrs Read to come back next week sober. She had to be removed from the Court. A report in the Ipswich Journal in Mar 1890 states that: At the Halesworth Petty Sessions of 18th March 1890, an extension of time was granted to Samuel Kent, of the Swan Inn, Halesworth, on the occasion of the railway employees dinner on the 21st.
