Historic Interest
Known to be operating as a pub from at least 1822. Shown on Tithe map c1849 and listed in Bagshaw's 1850 Directory with John Gertrey as licensee. (John Gertry was licensee of Fox & Hounds in Barnston in 1864 - Morris & Co Directory). A newspaper article from 1959 with a photo shows Church Cottages (in Pool Lane opposite the junction with Church Lane) and a comment that no. 4 (the cottage next door to the one at the far right of the terrace) was reputed to be the old Ring o' Bells public house. Closed and became a private residence. The cottages were demolished in the 1962.
