A well-hidden black and white country pub, popular both with drinkers and diners. Its characterful interior includes two intimate dining rooms. Brass knick-knacks abound, and there are two hefty log fires in winter. Easily missed is the marvellously elaborate carved frontage to the bar, which incorporates two pairs of stuffed jays. Peaceful beer garden. Typically three interesting guest ales, dropping to two in quieter winter months.
