Sturdy 19th-century brick building fronted by an impressive sward for outside drinking and children's amusement. The pub consists of four distinct areas one of which is given over to dining. The main bar area has a brick and tiled floor, high backed settles and a brick fireplace occupied by a fine cast-iron stove. It has been extended into the former cellar, the cask beers now being served by gravity from behind the new low bar. Two of their regular beers, Adnams Southwold Bitter and Ghost Ship, are served direct from the cask. Ever changing guest beers, whose styles change with the seasons and are primarily sourced from smaller regional breweries, are served through a handpump. All beers are good value. The food is freshly prepared from local produce and offers quality and value. They hold a music & beer festival on the late May bank holiday Monday.

This former Greene King pub has been owned by Conington Pub co since 2013.
