An article in the News Shopper issue of 9 August 2002 has a review of the pub in its heyday.

Historic Interest

Rebuilt in the mid 19th Century on the site of an earlier inn, this was originally called the "Red Cross" and stood at the crossroads of the Bromley to Westerham road and the Croydon to Locksbottom road (for Sevenoaks and Hastings). A noted landmark for travellers, this inn served the hamlet of Keston Mark, so named from being on the border of Keston, hence "march" or "mark" with a parish boundary marker. Renamed in the early 1930s as the "Mark Inn" due to the Geneva Convention protecting the name for the Red Cross movement. The pub was later owned by Whitbread and adopted the name "Keston Mark".
