There used to be nowhere else quite like the Victoria. The bar was unchanged for many decades and the pub was a treasure trove of decorations that include ultra-violet lighting in the games room, a sign to “Bedrooms 50-70” and the back half of a fox. Used to feature in CAMRA’s “Historic Pubs of Yorkshire & Humberside”, regarded as "a historic pub interior of some regional importance", but under new criteria has been withdrawn. The landlord claims he is still open, although a recent (June 2025) visitor was offered only tins of lager.
