This traditional 18th century pub is hidden off the beaten track down a narrow cobbled lane at the bottom of Micklegate. Partially open plan, with separate areas up a couple of steps or through an archway. There's a pleasant, heated beer garden on a raised area to the back of the pub. Appeals to all ages with a friendly family atmosphere. Bar snacks and pies are available as are bar billiards, dominos and darts. On Sunday, lunch is also on offer. Regular evening quiz. Local CAMRA city pub of the season for winter 2025.
