Now owned by Everards Brewery and leased by the Brunswick Brewery, with up to eight cask ales featuring regularly on the bar - see Real Ale Finder for the latest selection. One of the top cider pubs in the area with up to two dozen available. A main stone-flagged bar area with low ceilings and a large open fire is flanked by a cosy snug. A conservatory extension leads to a part covered garden drinking area. Holds two annual beer and cider festivals and was named as Amber Valley Camra Pub of the Year 2023 & 2024.

Restoration

This pub was built in 1800 and a superb restoration in 1998 turned an ordinary carpeted pub into a beautiful, old-world inn of character with several rooms or drinking areas. Around the servery are two bars, right and left, and at front is a tiny alcove with service from what is not much larger than a hatch. These areas have original stone walls and flagstone floors from an old mill. On the right is the main bar area, that is flagstone-floored with low ceilings, four high-backed settles forming two bays and a large stone fireplace, flanked by a cosy snug with a diamond black and red quarry-tiled floor, scrubbed tables, two settles which have lift-up cupboard seats and a wood-burning stove. The overall effect is homely and cosy. At the rear is a conservatory.
