East Yorkshire, STATION BUFFET, Bridlington. The leasehold of Station Buffet at Bridlington is available from agents Lambert Smith Hampton, and is now advertised as being under offer. One of only two licensed buffets on the main rail network, it has been shut since December 2019, when licensee John Sadler retired. The characterful collection of railway memorabilia assembled by John was auctioned off at that time, so expect a more stripped back look when it re-opens, hopefully later this year. Details here: Lambert Smith Hampton. Thanks to Dave Gamston for this update.

Greater Manchester, CIRCUS TAVERN, Manchester. Bad news from landlord Barry Haines, who took out a Market Rent Only (MRO) in February 2020. He is now facing a backdated rent bill from Star Pubs and Bars for £71,000. Barry was anticipating waiting until lockdown restrictions were fully lifted, but now feels he has no choice but to open, even though he can’t get the footfall necessary with the current restrictions to service this massive debt. He is hoping that the landlord will negotiate. This we fear will be the same situation for other MRO tenants. Thanks to John Clarke for this update. See: Manchester Evening News

In addition, there are dozens of National Inventory pubs that are closed for non-Covid-19 reasons such as lease available; many are long term closed. Hopefully, the Historic Pub Interiors website shows these closures. However, we always recommend folks to ring an ‘inventory’ pub prior to making a visit as opening hours change so much these days and it is difficult to keep both WhatPub and the Historic Pub Interiors websites up to date.
We are most grateful when members who spot differences between what it states on our websites and what pubs are currently doing in terms of opening hours; real ales on sale; etc. etc. Most changes should be advised by way of a WhatPub Update but reports on changes to pub interiors can be sent to info@pubheritage.camra.org.uk
