West Dorset CAMRA branch’s Pub of the Year is the Tiger Inn, Bridport - a Victorian, Grade II-listed, 18th-century free house owned and run by Graham and Jacquie Taylor.
The wood-panelled bar has six handpulls dispensing cask beers usually from West Country breweries plus there are traditional ciders, also from local producers.
Daughter Emily Taylor, on behalf of her family, said: “It is such an honour to receive this prestigious award, a big thank you to West Dorset CAMRA for supporting pubs over the years.
“We would like to thank our amazing staff and wonderful, loyal customers, and all the breweries that supply our huge range of beers.
“It’s great to see the Tiger Inn, a traditional, wet-led, family run pub has been recognised as West Dorset’s CAMRA Pub of the Year.”
The pub has two main bar areas, both with a predominantly wooden theme with exposed timber flooring, tables, chairs and soft furnishings.
In the main bar sporting events are shown on a large screen which does not affect the ambiance of the pub. The pub is extremely well supported by locals and visitors and has a good throughput of cask.
There are outside courtyard sun traps and an occasional alley-style bar at the rear of the pub.
The Tiger does not serve food, only breakfast to guests in its seven rooms.
The pub will now go forward into the county Pub of the Year competition alongside the East Dorset winner then hopefully into the regional and national finals.
