This traditional 18th century pub is hidden off the beaten track down a narrow cobbled lane at the bottom of Micklegate. Partially open plan, with separate areas up a couple of steps or through an archway. There's a pleasant, heated beer garden on a raised area to the back of the pub. Appeals to all ages with a friendly family atmosphere. Bar billiards, dominos and darts are available. On Sunday, lunch is on offer, but pre-booking is required. Regular evening quiz. Local CAMRA city pub of the season for winter 2025.
