Grade II listed building dating from early 15th cent. It underwent major renovation in the 20th and was updated in 2015 and now offers two ales from local Nethergate Brewery alongside four guests. A small brewery was located somewhere on site in the late 19th cent. Pleasant garden to rear.

Historic Interest

This may date from the 15c but the first reference to it as an inn is in 1636. Part of the building was used as a schoolroom for a few years from 1834. It was renovated in 20c. The premises now in use combine half the original inn with a converted barn. Alf Jolly's family butcher's shop once stood where the restaurant now stands & a slaughterhouse stood to the rear. Next door both No 4 & 5 (both 17c buildings) were originally part of the Cock. In Jun/Jly 1982 edition of Last Orders*** it was reported that the Cock had been recently sold by Charringtons (Ind Coope). In Sep/Oct 1982 edition of Last Orders*** it was reported that it reopened on Aug 12.
