Wetherspoon pub.
The high ceilings and ornate cornices have been retained and pictures of old Perth adorn the walls of the open-plan lounge which overlooks the River Tay. Spot the large Chubb safe from its banking days, found in the family area.
Manager is a real ale enthusiast; up to six beers are dispensed from a wide variety of Scottish and English breweries. Food is available all day, with breakfast from 8am, but does not serve alcoholic drinks until 11am. Beer festivals twice a year are popular with local ale drinkers. No dogs are allowed inside or out, in line with Wetherspoon policy.
Please note that since the September 1994 increase of 30% in statutory Minimum Unit Pricing of Alcohol, Wetherspoon pubs may not accept the full value of CAMRA Vouchers at various times, for some lower-priced cask ales.
Historic Interest
Erected to house the Perth Savings Bank. Designed by the City Architect, Andrew Heiton, in the mid-Victorian Renaissance style, it first opened its doors in September 1876, operating as a bank until 1983. After a brief spell as a nightclub, Wetherspoon took over the premises in 1998 - now Category 'B' Listed.
