Said to be the oldest pub in Perth dating back to 1665, with no name change. Walls are timber-lined with white painted beamed ceiling and frieze lightening up the bar. A large oil painting of a sailing ship is of particular interest. Lounge area to left of bar with a selection of books for reading. Was an oasis in Perth for real ale in the 1980s, now offering one regular ale and two changing guest beers. Upstairs lounge reopened as 'Above Board' in December 2018 after 20-year closure. Historic Interest
The name is because at one time the harbour was just at the bottom of the High Street. Sailors did not have far to stagger back to their ship after a drunken night in the pub.
