Situated in the middle of the village, opposite the church, the Lodge is also known locally as the Top House. Sold by Marstons into private ownership, it was converted into a restaurant in 2015, but reverted to a pub under a new tenancy in December 2016. It's a relatively large pub with three rooms including a games room equipped with a pool table. and is quite a comfortable sort of place with some soft seating and a log fire. If one looks closely in the pub yard there is evidence of the Lodge Brewery which used to be there up to pre-war times. Apparently it also had a maltings on site. As to the name "Lodge", this was the name of the ecclesiastical district up to the late 19th century. Confirmed no longer selling real ale 13/06/2026
