This Pub is Closed Long Term
Formerly a rare, for SE London, William Younger's (of Edinburgh) house. Being right next to a large roundabout it has a claim to fame by its regular mention on London road traffic reports for hold up delays on the Blackwall Tunnel approach road. Some years ago half of the pub was totally partitioned off into separate premises and is now Roy's Café. No real ale but there are three unused handpumps at the far right hand end of the bar strangely isolated and facing the partition wall of what is now the next door building. In spring 2017 plans were submitted to demolish this pub and replace it with a block consisting of commercial space at street level and eight flats above - the application was refused. In summer 2021 plans were approved to add extra residential accommodation but with a public house to be retained.
