In the summer of 2013 a private investor secured ownership of the pub from Charles Wells to make it officially a free house, now fully refurbished, including a complete new kitchen. The varying beer list always includes a LocAle.

The large outdoor area includes nine petanque terrains and a children's play area. Local buses pass in front of the pub. Opens earlier on Wed & Thursday in Summer. Quiz on Thursday evenings.

Consistently serving quality ales earned them a Merit Award in May 2024, followed by the Branch LocAle Award in August 2024 and the Branch Overall PotY 2025.
