Situated handily for the railway and bus stations, and near the town centre, this pub was refurbished in 2019 with one long bar. It nevertheless remains a local, with loyal regulars and a welcome for visitors.
There are two hand pumps on the bar and food is served, mainly pizzas and burgers. The buzz of amiable conversation mixes with the sound of pub games most weekday evenings, as the Bell hosts darts, dominoes, pool, Aunt Sally and quiz teams. There is outside seating at the front and back.
There is regular live music at weekends and football is shown on the TV. The back part of the building was once a garage, and there memorabilia and artefacts adorning the walls in homage.
Historic Interest
The Bell started life as a pub in 1824, the back part of the building was once used as an auto repair garage.
