This Pub is Closed Long Term
Open plan pub with the main area containing a TV and the dance floor area with a pool table at one end. At one side, in an alcove, is the dartboard. On the other side, is a 'snug'. There is a room upstairs that houses another pool table which is used for competitions and for functions. Party weekends take place on Friday and Saturday evenings with disco and guest DJ's. Thursday is Karaoke night.
Historic Interest
In 1832, the Chequers was fully licensed under John Price (White). In 1855, the landlady was Mrs. C Truman and in 1876 the publican was a John Cartledge (Post Office Directories). In 1881, the Chequers Inn was sold for £4,435 (J.H.Beardsmore 1909/ www.nottshistory.org.uk) The Chequers and the cottage next door have entries on Ashfield District Council's Local Heritage List (September 2016) as being "Locally Listed". As at November 2017, the freehold (NT341777) was held by Punch Partnerships (PML) Limited [Reg. No. 3321199]. On the 5th March 2018, the freehold was transferred to Patron Capital.
