Late-night pub venue 'Kitty's' closed in 2022.

The following planning application was submitted to Neath Port Talbot council on Wed 27 Mar 2024, but was still "Awaiting Decision" as at 12th February 2025:-

A previous planning application was submitted to Neath Port Talbot council on 21 Oct 2022, but was withdrawn on Mon 30 Jan 2023:-

P2022/0894 | Change of use from public house to 6 no. flats together with new bike shed, bin enclosure, bike racks, means of enclosure and associated external alterations and surfacing | 6 James Street Pontardawe SA8 4LR. Including the following statement: The property is vacant for a longer period - at least since the beginning of the year 2022 ( period when it appeared on the market). The proposed flats conversion would provide an improvement for the neighbourhood since frequent complaints from residents affected by noise from the pub were received by local authorities.
