Friendly thatched village local dating from 1549 tucked away at the top of the High Street. Everards' first tied house, the pub is well known locally for the quality of its beer and is frequented by Everards' brewery staff. Three rooms are served by a central bar, all modernised in traditional style with some wall panelling. Long-alley skittles and a function room off a covered walkway to the rear. Outside there is a patio area. Lunches are served Wednesday to Saturday.
Historic Interest
Everards' first tied house.
16th C at the front with interwar or later extension and interior. Applied stud-work in the rear lounge and a quadrant bar counter. Brick effect fireplaces in all three rooms (each different) and fixed seating. Front RH bar seating has plain square legs, tapered in the left hand. A small lobby cum off sales in-between. Quarry tiling in the passageway and an excellent hatch incorporated into the door. Unfortunately due to be slightly opened up and the quadrant bar removed or re-sited.
