This very pleasant town local has seen several changes of ownership in the last few years before becoming a free house. The previous owner refurbished it to a high standard, but retaining flagstone floors, beams and plenty of wood. For the horticultural minded, note the Ginkgo biloba tree in the garden, a species whose ancestry can be traced back over 200 million years. Handy train station within yards to bring visitors from Portsmouth for some quality real ale. Six handpumps but the number in use varies. Quiz Tuesday, Music Fridays. Real ale is competitively priced.
