Bosville Hotel (Merchant Bar), Portree

*** Highlands & Western Isles pub opening and food service times currently vary nearly on a day-to-day basis, mostly dependent on establishments' access to bar and waiting staff. Hence you will almost certainly see different times than those published here. Please DO NOT send updates to either opening or food service times, as trying to hit a moving target is a waste of our very limited resources. Instead, overall opening and restaurant times will be updated at the next full survey. Your understanding is appreciated. We welcome notifications of 'dog friendliness' however four legs good, two legs better. As you might imagine for a website called WhatPub, the main aim is to highlight the quality of ales. Situated in the heart of Portree, capital of the Isle of Skye, above the harbour, this quality 4 star hotel offers lovely accommodation and first class Highland customer service.

The Merchant Bar was once the village bank. At least two Isle of Skye beers with guest beers from Highland or the Orkney breweries from March to October.

Depending on how cold it is, one or both stoves in the bar are sure to keep you toasty!

The Bar is open daily from 5pm till 10.30pm. Dulse & Brose restaurant is open for meals from 5pm with the last sitting being at 8.30pm.

Why Dulse & Brose? Old Gaelic for seaweed and ground uncooked barley which is the speciality bread on the menu.
