This Pub is Permanently Closed
Popular corner local next to the Maud Foster drain and across from the windmill. The pub name is thought to come from the nearby rope works, now closed, and ropes were said to be stretched down to the local. It reached national fame when it is one of the inns visited by Michael Jackson in his TV series The Beer Hunter, in the 1980s.
