This refurbished 16th-century coaching inn is now relatively isolated through being bypassed by the A30 on which it used to lie. It is nevertheless a busy pub and it is advisable to book a table for a meal. On entering the pub the bar is to the left with a large screen TV discreetly located in the left hand corner of the room. To the right of the entrance is a large open hearth fire, cosy for the winter months. Accommodation has been converted from the original barns, stables and hen houses. Exposed oak beams and an airy conservatory overlooking historic Mitchell add further ambience.
