With Nigel having now retired, and it's a whole new start for Neil.

The pub is a previous winner of many CAMRA and industry awards, and features in many up-market gastronomic guides, this Grade II-listed 19th-century pub serves three Yorkshire beers.

Church pews, country collectables and a roaring range add to the ambiance, whilst the restaurant has been superbly decorated.

The grassy area to the front and boules to the rear are ideal for summer drinking.

Table tennis and a pool table are also available.

The renowned first-class restaurant always features local meat, fish and game.

Three letting bedrooms are available.

Summer music festival.

May close early if empty on winter Sunday evenings.

Historic Interest

Grade II listed 'hammered and herringbone' sandstone building, rebuilt and altered in 1887.
