Dining pub.

This long-established pub - previously the Crown Hotel - closed in March 2013 and reopened as an Indian restaurant named Cinnamon Culture. Eventually the restaurant moved to a new location in Chislehurst and the premises have now been taken over by Punch Taverns, reopening on March 31st, 2022.

This is a very large and spacious pub, with this impression enhanced by the high ceilings. In the bar a are mixture of seating and table arrangements. The flooring is predominantly wooden, with tiling near the bar. The pub has a large garden area.

Historic Interest

Dating from 1840, this purpose built hotel and public house served the rural village of Plaistow, as well as the nearby country estate of Sundridge Park, owned by the Scott family. Situated on Plaistow Lane, this would have also served any passing traffic to the London markets. The railway line between Bromley North and Grove Park was opened in 1878, with the station opened adjacent to the hotel upon the instigation of Sir Edward Scott: Originally called "Plaistow", the station name was changed to "Sundridge Park" in 1894. The Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) was a frequent visitor to the estate for pheasant shooting. In 1901, the estate and mansion of Sundridge Park was sold, with the formation of the Sundridge Park Golf Club. The Crown was then used to serve golfers and other visitors when the golf course opened in 1903.
