Located at Well Heads above Thornton, this inn is to be found bordering the countryside. A stone carving above the front door dates the pub from 1815 when it was known as the New Inn. It is promoted as a family-run gastro-pub. The seven hand-pulls offer an extensive range of Timothy Taylor real ales although some can be doubled up. The pub has a multi-roomed, semi-open plan layout and has a smart, modern interior but still retaining a rustic feel with numerous wood burning stoves. It has a large car park and beer garden. It's well known in the area for its home-cooked food and has an extensive menu. Smaller portions are offered for a number of meals. Sunday roasts are offered and there are a selection of meats. Takeaway food is also offered.
