Located alongside the main road through Thornton, this large, friendly pub has an open-plan format but still has a rustic feel. Six handpumps on the bar serve a varying range of real ales and often including some from local breweries. The beers usually include a pale and a dark ale and cover a variety of strengths. There is also a good selection of craft beers in can and bottled form. Real ciders and perries are also on sale. An extensive list of whiskeys, gins and other spirits will suit those who want something a little stronger. Good value, home-cooked food is offered and includes a fish & chip Fridays and a Sunday roast. A children's play area is provided in the beer garden to the rear and baby changing facilities are available.
