THIS PUB CLOSED ON 11 FEB 2024 AND IT WAS INDICATED IT WAS TO BE REPLACED WITH AN INDIAN RESTAURANT. An application to change the licensed premises from a public house to a "drinking establishment with expanded food provision" (ref. 24/01078/CLP) was granted by City of Bradford MDC on 16 May 2024. When visited on 03 May 2025, work to convert the building was ongoing and the pub signs were still being displayed.

Known to locals as "The Crix", this free-house in the lower part of Baildon has an elevated position surrounded by open grassland and with views to the historic Salts Mill. Baildon cricket club used to play on the adjacent grassland from 1850-1914, hence, the name of the pub. The pub comprises an open, light and spacious all round room with stone floors and a central bar. There are two real ale handpulls but only one was being used when visited on Aug 2023. A beer garden with real grass is to the side. It is popular for sports TV & quizzes. The pool table is free to play all day on Mondays. When the weather is nice the pub may put on a kid's karaoke & disco and a bouncy castle. Pub food (primarily pizzas, burgers and chips) is offered. Breakfasts are available on Saturdays and Sundays, 10.30am to 1.00pm.
