Historic Interest

In May 1981 this was an 8 year old Wilsons Keg pub. However by March 1982 it was listed by Tudor Taverns as being a managed pub selling Cask beer, though there was no evidence of this in the pub itself. In May 1984 Tudor Taverns became Pennine Host. The Pub was not listed in the 1989 Beer in Bolton Guide as it was keg beer only. By June 1989 rumours were circulating that Control Securities were buying the pub, they had recently bought Belhaven Brewery. This rumour proved correct and in the Summer edition the pub was owned by Control Securities and was expected to be selling a new beer called Blezards Bitter brewed by Tetley.
