This trail begins by the bay, exploring the lively seafront and harbourside pubs of central Torquay—from beachside taprooms to hidden historic gems. It’s a compact and walkable start with plenty of variety.
Then, for part two, hop on the Stagecoach 22 bus to St Marychurch and Babbacombe, where leafy streets and clifftop views frame a second round of standout pubs. Expect traditional locals, rotating ales, and a more relaxed village vibe. Do both halves in one go—or treat them as two distinct pub adventures.
Start
Head towards the sea front and drop down on to the main road keeping left.
13 minutes
Follow the road towards the harbour, and the pub is where the shopping area begins.
6 minutes
Near to the Mallock Memorial Clock Tower, a former Wetherspoons with plenty of space.
1 minutes
Turn left out of Yates, immediately cross the road, go up a short rise and the pub is on the left.
Short Bus (8 Minutes)
The next part requires a bus for at least part of the journey. Stagecoach 22 to St. Marychurch.
3 minutes
Alight opposite St Matthias Church (Kents Cavern stop) the pub is down on the right.
14 minutes
Continue on the same bus route and alight at the Conservative Club. Walk back to the main road, turn left in to the pedestrian area and the pub is on the left.
3 minutes
Continue along Fore Street and the pub sits on the right just past the Parish Church.
Info
Leave the pedestrian area, head back towards Torquay keeping to the left-hand side. Take the second left into Babbacombe Downs Road where both pubs are located.
Info
To return to Torquay take any road inland and rejoin the bus route.
It’s two pub trails in one—buzzing seafront bars followed by hilltop hideaways. Sea views, local beer, and proper Devon character all the way through.
