This Pub is Permanently Closed
Former Greene King pub, at it's best a cosy welcoming local. Sadly towards the end of its existence it acquired a bad reputation and was closed temporarily in 2010 following disturbances. It reopened in early 2011 and as part of measures to put the poor reputation behind it, changed its name to the Duke of Clarence.
Sadly, the new name did not achieve its aim and the pub closed permanently in July 2011. Planning permission was later granted to re-develop the site to provide residences and a convenience store. and it was demolished the following year.
