This Pub is Permanently Closed

A 1960s community pub built on the Highfield Estate. Spirit Inns tried to close the pub in 2012 for a care home to be built on the site. After significant public protest they reopened the pub. After a year of bad management they closed the pub again, in May 2015 a planning application was submitted for demolition and the erection of 32 dwellings. There was an arson attack later in 2015 gutting the building and the pub was demolished in 2016. There is now housing on the site, freeholders Stafford & Rurak Homes Ltd.
