This Pub is Permanently Closed
Closed in 2007 but was then converted to an Indian Restaurant called the Royal Bengal in 2010, under permitted development.
The restaurant closed permanently in 2019 and remained derelict until 2021 when the pub came on the market and was bought by Sprowston Town Council using Community Infrastructure Levy money from new housing developments in the area, as they were keen to keep it as a public community building.
COVID struck, so the plans had to be put on hold until 2023, when redevelopment started to turn the building into the Viking Community Centre, which opened on 12th April 2025..
