Open plan single room terraced stone-built (1860’s) pub with real fire set off the main Bollington road. The Vale is a star in the local real ale scene and brewery tap for the nearby Bollington Brewing Company, started by Lee & Kirsten Wainwright in 2008. Bollington Brewing has won the Champion Beer of Cheshire competition and Oat Mill Stout has won silver. Other awards have followed. There are five hand pumps serving beers from Bollington Brewing, sometimes including a one-off special. Popular with the local community and CAMRA branch pub of the year 2008. Brewery trips are available. Refurbished in 2012 with new wooden flooring and a slightly more modern decor but still maintaining it's charm. Off-sales of beer are available in bottles, four-bottle presentation packs and 18 & 36 pint beer boxes. Please order beer boxes in advance to avoid disappointment. Moravka lager, brewed to a Czech recipe in nearby Taddington is a permanent fixture. See www.moravka-lager.co.uk for more details. The beer garden overlooks the local cricket ground and is an excellent spot to sample an excellent real ale whilst watching the local cricket team which the Bollington Brewery sponsors. The Beer Garden has its own bar which is open in Summer. Close to the Macclesfield Canal aqueduct and Middlewood Way viaduct, so an ideal stop off point after a walk or cycle ride. The Vale holds popular seasonal beer festivals and hosts the Bollington Sci Bar. This is a very popular event and you have to get their early to get a place. The home cooked food is highly recommended especially the chunky chips available on their own. Bollington Brewery now operate four other pubs and cafe bars in the area: the Park Tavern and The Fountain in Macclesfield, the Cask Tavern in Poynton and The Foundry in Congleton.
