Open plan single room terraced stone-built (1860’s) pub with real fire set off the main Bollington road. The Vale is a star in the local real ale scene and the first pub owned by the Bollington Brewing Company, started by Lee & Kirsten Wainwright in 2008. The pub used to be near the brewery until it relocated to Macclesfield in 2024. There are five hand pumps serving beers from Bollington Brewing, sometimes including a one-off special. Popular with the local community and CAMRA. Refurbished in 2012 with new wooden flooring and a slightly more modern decor but still maintaining it's charm. Off-sales of beer are available in bottles, four-bottle presentation packs and 18 & 36 pint beer boxes. Please order beer boxes in advance to avoid disappointment. Moravka lager, brewed to a Czech recipe in nearby Taddington is a permanent fixture. The beer garden overlooks the local cricket ground and is an excellent spot to sample an excellent real ale whilst watching the local cricket team which the Bollington Brewery sponsors. The Beer Garden has its own bar which is open in Summer. Close to the Macclesfield Canal aqueduct and Middlewood Way viaduct, so an ideal stop off point after a walk or cycle ride. The Vale hosts the Bollington Sci Bar. This is a very popular event and you have to get their early to get a place. The home cooked food is highly recommended especially the chunky chips available on their own.
