Dating from the early seventeenth century this is a cosy, friendly and attractive pub at the bottom of the hill about half a mile from the town centre. Close to the Ludlow Brewery, the entrance is through an arch which leads to the scenic outdoor drinking area adjacent to the River Corve.

The pub offers free biscuits to dogs and free wi-fi. Low beams, hanging hops, bare board flooring and a large open fire give the bar a very traditional feel and a cosiness in winter.

There are ten handpumps, eight for beer and two for varying ciders and perries, but some of these may not be real cider. Bar snacks only - cobs, pork pies, scotch eggs, etc.

Reopened by Black Country Ales in May 2025 and tastefully refurbished inside and out while still retaining original features thoughout making it a welcoming place. Two back rooms have been brought back into use as extra drinking areas or meeting rooms, and the beer garden patio area is now a pleasant place to while away a summer's evening.

Historic Interest

Once owned by the Wrekin Brewery of Wellington, then later turned into a B&B and then closed. Grade II listed entry number 1281967.
