Popular one bar pub which can get very lively at weekends. TV sports are very popular here and all football and rugby matches are available plus racing coverage. There is a separate pool room to the right of the entrance. Occasional live music takes place at weekends. The current building stands on the site of one of the oldest inns in the town. The original was destroyed in the civil war. During several successive renovations a well was found in the building in 1951, and human bones in a hidden room in 1982.
