Following a period of closure, this pub was extensively refurbished, renamed Two Steeples and reopened in April 2015. It is an enormous family pub-restaurant with first floor children's Wacky Warehouse play barn. Outside is another, well equipped, children's play area and paved external drinking areas furnished with picnic tables. Breakfasts are available from 9am daily.
Historic Interest
The pub was purpose built during the 1990s and named The Bell Fountain in recognition of the fact that in 1897, to mark the occasion of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, a drinking fountain was sited here on the area known locally as The Bank. To commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee in 2012, a granite boulder with a plaque proclaiming the two queens' longevity, was positioned very near to the site of the original fountain, across the end of Bell Street, just outside this pub. Renamed 'Two Steeples' in 2015. the new name derives from the fact that Wigston has two spired churches. Accordingly in the Middle Ages, Wigston became known as Wigston Two Steeples.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer (Usually a Greene King seasonal) and 2 regular beers.
