From a local resident, "This pub, a local asset to the majority of the Stamford Hill community and part of their cultural History was shut without any opposition by the Council or the Government who had a duty to protect this building and its historical service to the local community.
Known by the locals as 'The Gatehouse' due to the Toll gate at the location, it was managed by Danny and Betty Parkus in the 1960's/70's. It was the 'watering Hole' for the drivers and conductors of the nearby Bus garage and the Steeplejacks from
Barlings opposite.
Dec 2023 - the pub is "To Let" with AG&G. But, "The landlord will consider letting the property to non-pub users (subject to obtaining the necessary consents)."
26/10/21 - pub closed and boarded. Sold to HATZOLA TRUST LIMITED 23/12/21 for £4.4m. Some kind of health company. The freehold had been owned by Stonegate.
Large single bar street corner locals pub, refurbished in 2019 now with a narrower bar profile, pool table at rear, 5 x TV sports screens. No food, basic snacks only
This pub has reopened as a Craft Union pub (Ei Group, managed house). 4 new hand pumps installed - Pride and Doom both on display but both unavailable on a visit 16th July 2019.
