Sun Inn, Bingley

PERMANENTLY CLOSED. CITY OF BRADFORD MDC GAVE PLANNING PERMISSION TO CONVERT IT TO RESIDENTIAL USE ON 15 OCT 2020.

Previously successful as a Mitchells and Butlers pub, it became part of the Milton Pubs and Taverns chain and was run to the ground with the quality of the beer and food suffering as a result. Unsurprisingly, people stopped going. The pub was closed on 22 November 2018 much to the upset of the local community for which it had been a large part of their lives. The premises were then sold to a developer who intended turning the pub into apartments and constructing houses on the car park (planning ref. 19/00675/MAF). The local community were up in arms about this and submitted a large number of objections. On 21 Jan 2020, they were successful in getting the establishment listed as an Asset of Community Value. As at 7 August 2020, a decision about the planning application was still to be made. Unfortunately, whilst empty, the pub is becoming a target for vandals.
