This Pub is Permanently Closed
Classic mock Tudor Strong's pub built in 1933 at the same time as the housing estate opposite. The already large premises were extended in 1998. The lounge bar side is divided into bar, function room & restaurant. Previous refurbishments deliberately left the lounge area alone and it is still as it was with ornate oak panelling, Portland stone fireplace and old weaponry decoration. The very spacious public bar has comfortable furnishing plus the usual darts, pool & fruit machines. Sadly, this pub is being run down prior to closure, hence no food. While the tenancy is being advertised the expectation is that a supermarket chain is lined up to move in. Closure was due on 14th June 2013 but it has a 4 to 6 week stay of execution.
