Originally the brewhouse of the Melbourne Hall, the building was converted in stables in the early 1900s. The current pub was established here in 202 and takes its name from the two previous uses of the building. Entry is directly into the bar area. A snug is to the left for small groups. To the right and down steps is the old stables area, which retains the stables but very tastefully turned into booths. The wooden roof has been retain as well making for a traditional atmosphere. The restaurant is in a separate room to the rear of the stables. The old courtyard now forms the pub garden though there is now grass.
Despite the name the pub is neither a brewhouse nor a tap house. There are no real ales on sale but there are six ever changing craft ales complemented by two ciders.
