This is Melbourne's oldest pub dating back to before 1682 when it was rebuilt. Over the door are the initials WME and the date 1684. The initials stand for William and Ellen Martin; William was a cloth worker. The back bar of the pub was probably the original brew house. It is likely that the front bar was the only public room for many years. The front room is now a small cosy lounge and there is a larger room on two levels at the back. A third bar (to the side) is occupied by a Thai restaurant.
Grade 2 listed (1281449).
This Pub serves no changing beers and 2 regular beers.
