Historic Interest
Grade II listed (18 and 20):- Warehouse. Late C19. Red brick set in Flemish bond with stone dressings, roof of artificial slate. Six storeys over basement, two-window range. Ground floor has two broad cambered-arched openings, that to the left broader. Piers faced with Corinthian pilasters of polished pink granite supporting imposts of stone and decoratively moulded brick arches between; cornice; some details of original shopfronts remain. Upper storeys have four floors of windows and doors ranged under two pointed arches, the two bays broad enough to reduce the main wall to brick piers; warehouse doors with wooden framing to either side on the right; flat-arched tripartite windows to the left, divided by slim engaged columns of marble with foliage capitals and shaft rings. Warehouse crane at fourth-floor level, corbelled out on a decorative marble column; oculus with stone architrave; coped gable with finial at apex.
