This Pub is Closed Long Term
Popular and surprisingly large open-plan town centre pub, named after the famous local inventor and largely frequented by colourful locals. A little spartan in the main bar area, a separate drinking/lounge area to the right of the bar is furnished with a sofa and comfy chairs. Although there are 6 handpumps, not all are yet in use, although there are plans (May 2016) to add extra ales during the summer months. Quiet at lunchtimes, it can be noisy in the evenings - there is a raised dance floor/stage and live music performs on Friday and Saturday evenings, with an 'open mic' night on Thursdays from 21:00.
